I'm Back!

Well, after some months of looking for work, I end down here blogging again. So what happened? Well, I sent out my resumes to many hospitals hoping to find work, sadly the recruitment processes are not that fast so I'm gonna wait for a long while.

Anyway, updates on the Dota world. Latest map out is 6.59b. You can download it here. Changes from 57b to 59b are too many to mention here so I suggest you go for a read here.

Gameplay changes and strategies are again changed. Many heroes can now jungle effectively. Enigma can jungle at level 1 using RoB and conversion. Clinkz can full jungle at level 6 with his Death Pact. There are a couple of more heroes but I'll leave you to think for your own strategies here.

Also major changes on Storm Spirit (Raijin) and Undying (Dirge) have been made. New skills for them, each with his own unique way to own. I personally like Raijin more, cause Dirge is a little hard to use but when used effectively, he can be very strong. My item build suggestion for Raijin is Shiva - Skadi but most people on Garena i see are using bloodstone + guinsoo. Never tried it before but theoretically, my build would be better. Dirge has an item that would make him a monster in clash but I won't post it here. I'll leave it for you guys to discover.

That's all for the DOTA post now. Feel free to comment and post your own strats.

Defense of the Ancients

Welcome to my blog! This is my first post as I want to start working from home by blogging. I am Albert, an freelance online writer. Now the first thing to rant about is about my favorite game, Defense of he Ancients. It is a custom game coming from Warcraft III's world editor designed by Guinsoo and now was handed on to Icefrog for regular updates. For me this is a masterpiece and the growing community of DOTA players would makes this game one of the top online/ offline games.

Now on to the game, the story behind DOTA is a war between The Sentinel and The Scourge. The Sentinel are the so-called good guys who protect the World Tree against The Scourge. The main objective of the game for the Sentinel is to destroy the Frozen Throne of the Scourge which is located within their base, while for the Scourge their objective is to destroy the World Tree. The matchups between the teams would range from 1v1 to 5v5 where players get to pick their heroes (user characters) from the taverns and use it to destroy the enemy's base.

The game has many features and requires good skill and micro to be able to win. If you have a basic knowledge on Warcraft III interface, then playing DOTA would be a lot less harder. You are allowed to buy equipment that gives certain boosts to your hero, some give minimal boosts while others give your hero godlike powers(well not really).

There are a lot of techniques and tricks that take time to be learned such as last hits, creep blocking, orb walking, animation canceling and other stuff that you can use to win the game, it is generally a team game which requires coordination of skills. Usually in amateur games, the team who chains more effectively wins. In professional games, different strategies are used like 4 gankers and 1 farmer, well you'll get to learn that once you try to play.

If you are wondering who are the top teams in the international league, well it was Virtuss Pro who led the pack last year, but they are not active anymore this year and the top spot was now taken by [SK] lead by Loda with team members Akke, Hailo, Tompa and others. They are closely followed by TeG, MYM, XcN, KS.

Overall, it is a very good game and I encourage you to play it. You can play online via Battle.net(requires an Original Warcraft III: Frozen throne cd-key) or via Garena where you can use non-official CDs. You can download this through http://www.garena.com

Here is a screenshot of the game:
